Walking Festival 2013.

To celebrate the attainment of the Walkers are Welcome status for Boroughbridge and the Lower Ure valley.  The Yore Vision walks group organised a launch event from 30th March (Easter Saturday) to the following Saturday 6th April. We aim this to become an annual festival/event for the area.

(Festival of Walks 2014 will be held 19th April – 26th April)

Around 300 walkers, both visitors and locals, enjoyed Boroughbridge and the Lower Ure Valley’s first Festival of Walks.
During the Easter week, a programme of fourteen walks guided by locals was provided. They included visits to high spots with distant views including York and Ripon minsters,  lovely villages, pleasant river valleys, two battlefield sites and a Roman settlement. Local farmers, naturalists and historians brought each of the walks alive with their enthusiasm and gave the walkers surprising insights into their surroundings.
