Easter Festival

The 2019 Festival takes place from 19th April to the 22nd April 2019

Good Friday 19th April: Kirby Hill to Boroughbridge Starting at All Saints’ Church Kirby Hill 9.45am. A special walk for Easter, as the churches combine to follow the Cross, stopping along the way at designated places for brief reflections; finishing at St James’s Church, Boroughbridge at 11.00am for fellowship and refreshments. 1.5 miles (2.5km). Suitable for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Families are welcome, but not on bikes please.
Good Friday 19th April: Ouseburn The Dale.   Starting at Great Ouseburn Village Hall at 2.00pm, this circular walk takes you through the hidden Dale and returns through Little Ouseburn. The walk is 4 miles (6km). Sponsored by: Burrows Park Caravan and Camping Park, a rural treat in Great Ouseburn. www.burrowspark.co.uk
Good Friday 19th April: Ghost Walk with The Hightimers Starting from St James’s Square at 7.30pm. Discover characters and legends from the town’s past history. Led by ‘The Hightimers’, the walk is approximately 1 mile (1.5km), lasting 1 hour… and full of surprises! With help from Boroughbridge Lions.

Easter Saturday 20th April: Langthorpe Loop Join   ‘The Boroughbridge Amblers’ on a 3mile/5km walk starting at 10.00am in the Langthorpe picnic area by the Grantham Arms roundabout. Refreshments will be provided by the B&B ladies at the end. The Amblers are a local walking group that have walks in the locality most weeks. River Round For those who would like a longer walk, this 17.5 mile/28km walk follows the Ure valley from Boroughbridge down to Aldwark and back via Myton-on-Swale.   Meet outside the Crown Hotel Boroughbridge at 9.00am. For those who want 7 miles, drop out at Great Ouseburn for a bus back at 1.30pm. Bring a packed lunch.
Easter Saturday 20th April: Exhibition in the Jubilee Room PLUS Boroughbridge Community Library will be open in the morning. Display of photographs and information about Old Boroughbridge and area by the Historical Society and displays by local community groups. 10.00am to 4.00pm.
Easter Saturday 20th April: Minskip This 5mile (8km) circular walks starts at 2.00pm from the Church in Minskip and goes across fields and paths towards Arkendale  Sponsored by: FINK – Think Food Think FINK. www.thinkfink.co.uk
Easter Sunday 21st April: Aldwark.   Meet outside the Aldwark Arms Pub at 10.00am, a pleasant stroll through cultivated, wildlife-rich countryside under wide open skies. The walk is 4miles (6 km).

Easter Sunday 21st April: Dog Kennel Lane Starting at 2.00pm in Langthorpe by the A1 bridge. This is a fascinating 5 mile (8km) walk, passing through Skelton on Ure village. Easter Sunday 21st April: Friends of Roman Aldborough 2.00pm English Heritage Aldborough Roman Town Site and Museum for a guided tour. English Heritage entry charges apply. Handle real Roman artefacts, see the most northerly in situ mosaics in the country. Discover more about the recent findings of Cambridge University. 1 Hour tour.

Easter Monday 22nd April: Myton on Swale and Battle of Myton Walk. This year is the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Myton (1319) or the White Battle as it came to be known. The circular walk starts at Myton Church at 2.00pm and covers 4miles(6km). Learn about local conservation, the real War Horses, and a local dynasty that transformed the village as well as fascinating details about the battle.
